Position Summary

Assistant Manager, Financial Controllership role is within the Engineering Finance organisation. There is responsibility for Month End management and results, the accuracy of the ledgers (from an IAS / IFRS / Company Policy perspective) through assurance activities, Balance Sheet reviews, External Audit engagements and identifying areas for improvement to reduce audit risks.

The role is based in Colombo (hybrid working) and requires positive relationship building with Business Finance, Corporate Functions, Internal/External Auditors and the CoE community which is critical to ensuring that all costs, commitments and liabilities are accurately recorded on a timely basis. This role will provide support and control of the business divisions' balance sheets and ensure that the financial statement reflect international standards.

Role Responsibilities

Supporting on monthly close activities for the areas including preparation of journals, accruals and prepayments and cost assurance activities to ensure that results are complete and accurate.
Production and review of key supporting schedules for significant costs within the areas supported.
Preparation and review of Balance Sheet Packs providing full commentary on movements and breakdown of balances for areas supported.
Identify opportunities for a more robust control environment to mitigate key risks
Works with Finance, Business and Corporate function team members to deliver outcomes they own by providing corresponding accounting, reporting and financial control support and enablement activities.
Provide guidance to the wider finance team to ensure all financial and accounting regulations and legislation are adhered to.
Timely audit responses.
Ad hoc projects and analysis.
Ensure to meet tight reporting deadlines whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy and quality.
Support Group projects and ensure seamless implementation of any new systems and processes.
The role will be expected to partner with Entity Accountants, Financial Controllers, Group Reporting and Statutory Reporting teams and be a key member of the Finance CoE.

Preferred Skills and Experience

Member of a recognised professional institute (CIMA/ACCA) with minimum 5 years of accounting experience
Strong understanding of accounting concepts
Proven ability to form strong relationships with customer and team members.
Have strong excel skills and be confident handling complex spreadsheets to ensure accurate reporting.
Be a lead proponent of driving a collaborative culture and approach to working across finance
Proven track record to meet deadlines as well as working to a monthly close timetable.
Have a strong background in standardising processes and documentation.
Effective oral and written communication that resonates with the target audience.
Self-motivated
Ability to work according to UK work hours.
