What You Need to Know About the Role

We’re looking for a Salesforce DevOps / Release Management Engineer with strong Salesforce development and release engineering expertise. You’ll own the end-to-end CI/CD pipeline, managing today’s sandbox-based releases while driving the transition to a Git-first, source-driven model. As the technical expert for Copado and Harness, you’ll collaborate with developers, architects, QA, and product teams globally. You’ll also handle platform incident escalations, ensuring stability while driving long-term improvements.

Key Responsibilities 

Salesforce Platform Engineering and Tooling, Developer Enablement 

Act as the primary SME and escalation point for the Salesforce CI/CD toolchain — Copado, Harness, Provar, SFDX, and Git workflows — across the Sales Technology engineering team.

Lead the architectural transition from sandbox-based development to a Git-first, source-driven development model

Lead scratch org adoption: design scratch org pool management, org shape configuration, and developer provisioning workflows; create enablement materials and conduct training sessions for the development team.

Drive the packaging strategy: assess metadata for unlocked package or second-generation package (2GP) suitability; design a package dependency hierarchy, versioning approach, and modular release cadence.

Leverage GenAI and Agentic AI toolsets (including Claude and GitHub Copilot) to accelerate pipeline authoring, runbook generation, RCA drafting, and developer self-service tooling.

Serve as the primary engineering escalation point for Salesforce platform incidents — triaging, owning resolution, and communicating status to stakeholders with clarity and urgency.

Manage incident response end-to-end: declare severity, mobilize the right engineering resources, coordinate parallel workstreams (hotfix, rollback, data recovery), and drive to resolution within defined SLA windows.

Oversee Salesforce org health: proactively monitor governor limit consumption, storage utilization, API usage trends, scheduled job health, and integration error rates — escalating risks before they become incidents.

Manage sandbox environment health: refresh schedules, data seeding, environment alignment, and configuration drift detection between sandbox tiers.

Administer Salesforce platform settings including user management, permission sets, security configurations, and platform updates — coordinating with the security team on controls where applicable.

Create and Maintain runbooks for all standard recovery and rollback procedures.

Partner with Salesforce developers to conduct post-incident code reviews, identify fragile metadata components, and implement preventive guardrails in the deployment pipeline.

Release Management & Deployment Orchestration 

Own the end-to-end Salesforce release lifecycle across Dev, SIT, UAT, Staging, and Production environments — including sandbox coordination, metadata packaging, regression validation, and production deployment.

Design and execute deployment strategies (big-bang, phased, delta) appropriate to release risk and scope across multiple Salesforce orgs.

Manage and maintain a release calendar aligned with sprint cadences, business stakeholder windows, and Salesforce seasonal release cycles (3x/year); lead release readiness reviews, go/no-go calls, and Change Advisory Board (CAB) submissions.

Maintain org-level metadata governance: track configuration drift, manage destructive changes, enforce environment parity, and document all deployment decisions.

Implement Segregation of Duties (SOD) controls for production deployments to meet SOX and audit requirements; maintain deployment audit trails and change management documentation.

Partner with QA, development, and product teams to define and enforce definitions of done that gate every promotion stage.

Copado CI/CD Platform Ownership 

Design, build, and continuously optimize Copado pipelines for automated Salesforce metadata deployments across all environments — including user stories, deployment packages, back-promotion flows, and rollback strategies.

Administer Copado platform settings: user permissions, branch management, environment configurations, connection validations, and pipeline governance.

Implement Copado Compliance Hub rules and static code analysis integration (PMD, Salesforce Code Analyzer) to enforce deployment guardrails and block non-compliant metadata at the CI stage.

Integrate Copado with Jira for end-to-end user story traceability from development through production deployment; configure Slack notifications for pipeline events and deployment outcomes.

Stay current with Copado platform roadmap updates; evaluate and recommend adoption of new capabilities to continuously improve pipeline efficiency and governance.

Required Skills & Qualifications 

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent

Minimum 6 years of experience in software development including the Salesforce CRM platform.

5+ Years of CI/CD experience using Copado for Salesforce deployments

5+ Years of experience working with GitHub

Experience working with Claude Code / GitHub Copilot, PMD and Provar

Experience working in Sales, Service, Experience Clouds

Experience working in LWCs, Integrations using REST API

Experience and understanding about Salesforce apex development patterns

Platform Developer I must have and Platform Developer II Certification highly desired.

Copado Fundamentals I and II Certifications are must have

Experience with Harness CI/CD would be added advantage

Good to have: Coding/technical skills in Java/Python, Boomi Integration, Scripting languages
