About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Software Engineer

In this role, you will:

Lead complex technology initiatives including those that are companywide with broad impact
Act as a key participant in developing standards and companywide best practices for engineering complex and large scale technology solutions for technology engineering disciplines
Design, code, test, debug, and document for projects and programs
Review and analyze complex, large-scale technology solutions for tactical and strategic business objectives, enterprise technological environment, and technical challenges that require in-depth evaluation of multiple factors, including intangibles or unprecedented technical factors
Make decisions in developing standard and companywide best practices for engineering and technology solutions requiring understanding of industry best practices and new technologies, influencing and leading technology team to meet deliverables and drive new initiatives
Collaborate and consult with key technical experts, senior technology team, and external industry groups to resolve complex technical issues and achieve goals
Lead projects, teams, or serve as a peer mentor

Required Qualifications:

5+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications

12+ years of hands‑on Java software engineering experience building large‑scale, distributed systems.
Strong experience with microservices architecture, event‑driven systems, and Kafka.
Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms, containerization, and CI/CD pipelines.
Solid understanding of application and API security and secure SDLC practices.
Experience with Oracle, MongoDB, and data modeling for enterprise applications.
Familiarity with Axon, CQRS/event sourcing, and RHPAM or similar workflow/BPM tools.
Working knowledge of React JS and API‑first integration patterns.
Experience using AI‑assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity and quality.
Strong communication skills with the ability to influence engineering standards and mentor peers.

Job Expectations

Design, develop, test, and maintain complex Java‑based solutions with a strong focus on quality, security, and scalability.
Lead and contribute to companywide engineering standards and best practices for microservices, cloud, and event‑driven architectures.
Review and evaluate complex technology solutions to align with strategic business and technical objectives.
Drive implementation of event‑driven and cloud‑native architectures at enterprise scale.
Collaborate with senior engineers, architects, and platform teams to resolve complex technical challenges.
Serve as a technical leader and peer mentor, supporting delivery of high‑impact initiatives.
Apply modern tooling, including AI‑enabled engineering practices, to improve delivery speed and reliability.
